Mr.P's Challenge 2 #4

154. Anatole France said, "If 50 million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing." On what subject do you disagree with most people, and why? (Northwestern).

Many people say that marriage is a foolish thing, yet so many people go ahead and get married. There are many things that are labeled as ‘foolish’ by other people, but it is still carried out on a daily basis, like marriage for example. I agree will the 50 million people who say that marriage is a stupid thing to do, although there are other things I disagree with. I disagree with the 50 million people who think that all hot and pretty girls are hot and pretty because they are thin. There are a number of things that are wrong with this statement.
I believe that everyone is different in their own ways and that is what makes everyone so unique. Looks are secondary according to me. It is the personality that matters most. If a person is extremely good looking but extremely arrogant and stupid at the same time I do not think I will want to spend a lot of time with him or her. I would want to ignore that person. Looks are just what you are from the outside, in the end it is always the inside that matters the most.  No matter how picture perfect you are from the outside, if you are ugly from the inside, your life will be messy. There are a lot of things that we are forced to conform to. The commercial world is behind most of it. Being thin is a concept that is forced upon us through advertisements and other means. It was not an idea that we had from the beginning. Therefore thinking that we are only beautiful if we are thin is stupid and foolish. I disagree with the 50 million people who think that if we eat too much and put on weight no one will want to date them.
Korea is one place where this idea of being thin plays a big role. A huge number of girls in Korea have done plastic surgery. Jobs are only offered to thin, plastic girls, who have conformed to this idea of being thin which has been adopted by many companies and businesses. This unfortunate situation in Korea should be dealt with immediately. The 50 million people who think otherwise are foolish. Why should one have to go through plastic surgery to get a job, if they already have all the qualifications that are required for the job? I disagree with the 50 million who think otherwise.

Mr.P's Challenge 2 #3

240. Is it better to give or receive gifts?

My reactions are really odd and sometimes inappropriate; therefore receiving gifts without offending the person giving me the gift is a little difficult for me. I cannot control my expressions. Surprises are another thing that I don’t like because of the same reason. I might look like I don’t like the gift or the surprise when I actually do. Even if I don’t like the surprise I cannot control my expressions. People always think I don’t like their gifts, which is true for the most part. People just don’t know what I like. They give me really weird things. Some of the things they give me I just give it away to other people, because I think why it should go for waste.

If you don’t know what a person likes then simply give them a gift voucher or some money so they can buy what they want. There is no point buying an expensive gift for someone who might end up never looking at your gift again. The best thing is to give money or nothing at all. If I stretched this argument further I would suggest not giving or receiving any gifts at all. It is a dumb tradition according to me. When m dad and mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday gift, I always said I don’t want anything. This reply has been the same for everyone one else I know. I like it this way. Although, if I had to pick between receiving and giving, I would prefer giving. Giving, according to me, is an easier action than receiving. I cannot explain why though.

I admit that yes when people buy me gifts I do feel good and happy, but that is not because of what they got me, but just simply due to their kind action. Gifts make you feel special, because you know someone has thought about you. This however does not mean that I will like their gift. This is the part that is annoying. If you don’t like the gift it adds to your collection of things that you will never use in your life again. In general, money is always the best gift. No one will be disappointed with it. I just simply hate the idea of gifts

232. Ten things you do when you procrastinate.

  1. I pretend like I am studying just so I feel good about myself.
  2. After a while of pretending I decide that I am hungry and that I need a break.
  3.  I go and cook myself some noodles or I make myself a sandwich.
  4. Then I think that if I eat while studying my book will get dirty, because I am really clumsy.
  5. So I go sit on my bed, and start watching something for entertainment. I don’t know why.
  6. After eating I realize that I haven’t finished watching the episode of Modern family. So I promise myself that after the episode finishes I will go back to studying (yeah right!)
  7. The episode eventually finishes and more compromises have to be made.
  8. Then I finally decide to stop watching Modern family. I think that I need help with my work, so I go to my friends’ rooms.
  9. I ask them one or maybe two questions at most, and then we start talking about other things.
  10. Then I am extremely tired will all the studying I did the whole day so I go to sleep. The next day I run around in a panic to get all my work done!

Mr.P's Challenge 2 #1

220. How money matters in your life

Many people say that money is not happiness. I think the people who say things like that either don’t have enough money or they don’t really know what to do with their money, because whether you believe it or not money is the only way to happiness. This might not be the most comforting thought, but it is the truth, and therefore we all have to live with it.

Money gets us things that we want because those things make us happy, and isn’t happiness something we all want? So when did money become a secondary source to happiness. People who disagree with my statement are big hypocrites. Everyone works for money, because money can buy everything. Money can also buy love. Since when did movie theatres or restaurants start serving your boyfriend or girlfriend for free? People who still think money is secondary they are a little carried away by the movies they PAID to watch in theatres. We need to come back to reality; money is everything.

Money matters the most in my life too. I am very particular about what I am spending my money on. I save money like my dad. I have a lot of his genes. My twin sister on the other hand spends money like there is no tomorrow. We are both on two extremes. My elder sister is in between these extremes. I also know that if I go to England for college and if I get a job offer there after college, I might stay if it is a good offer. If I get a better job offer in India then I will come back for sure. I don’t mind going anywhere as long as my economic profits look pretty.

Economical factors are the key to survival of anyone or anything. No decision, whether is is on a personal level or a state level or a national level is taken without knowing the economical consequences of it. Economics is priority and it will always be a priority in my life also.

Mr.P's CHALLENGE 30 (I look up to the sky ... I made it, I made it!)

What do you think people who know you would be surprised to learn about you? Limit your response to one page.(Rice University)

I am usually a annoying "control freak." I hate surprises. I am not spontaneous at all. I am for the most part independent. I will not cry during graduation. I dont like the concept of dating. I get sick of facebook after fifteen minutes. I am sure my parents will disagree with this statement though! Out of my three sisters i am the most studious and bold. There is only one thing that people might find surprising about me; i can be really calm during any form of crisis. My reactions to disastrous events dont really depend on other people's reactions. I can stay calm in the worst situations. Both my sisters are the opposite of me, but my elder sister at least tries to keep calm. I dont have to really try, i just dont panic. I dont panic with the crisis is at a bigger scale, i panic more at smaller crisis. For example if i didn't study for my history exam i would panic, but if something bad happens in my family i dont panic at all. I haven't yet figured out why. My friends will be suprised to find out about this, because if something is out of order they will expect me to break down and cry. I dont really do that. I am very composed during these critical situatons. This is the only surprising thing about me ar at least i thought so until i danced for a talent show at my school. The thing that surprised me is that people were surprised that i can dance. I didn't think they would be surprised to know that i am a pretty decent dancer. It was a surprise to me. They didn't think i knew how to do anything besided studying! I didn't know if that was a compliment or an insult!
