8. What single adjective do you think would be most frequently used to describe you by those who know you best? Briefly explain. (Stanford)
“Short” would be the most frequent adjective used to describe me, by people who know me best. I was the shortest student in my class, until another new student came who was shorter that me. I couldn’t believe it. That new student made me feel proud of myself! She is short and sweet. All throughout my school life people have described me as a short girl. Some of the nick-names I had, or rather have, are “shorty”, “chotti bum”, “short s***”, “midget” and a more recent one being, “fun size.” I do not mind it when people call me names. All the people who call me names are close friends of mine. I know they are joking and even if they are not I really don’t mind it. I used to hate it when people made fun of my height, but now I laugh along. Now when people call be by my name it is a little weird. I am used to people making fun of me. I am also used to making fun of other people. I feel that if you cannot handle a joke about yourself then you shouldn’t make fun of anyone else. I realized that it doesn’t matter what people call or describe you as. The only thing that matters is what you think you are as a person. I know I am short, but that has nothing to do with how I am as a person. The people who know me best are well aware of that. I am not the kindest person you will meet, but I try to be patient with other people. I don’t think being short is a bad thing either. Short people have so many advantages, that people don’t know about. People, who know me best, like some of my very close friends and my parents don’t laugh at me they laugh with me.
